Food sampling severely limited as pandemic continues
In a time of massively increased safety protocols and social distancing vigilance, a lynchpin of the Costco experience is imperiled. Free samples, a means of introducing shoppers to new or unfamiliar products, have largely been shelved in the time of Covid-19, according to Eater. Some “dry” samples have returned to stores, but it’s limited. Meanwhile, the owners of small, early-stage food businesses are unhappy with losing access to this reliable means of luring in new customers.
