Americans want Oreos and popcorn during quarantine

When shopping during the coronavirus quarantine, it seems many Americans want their pantries and refrigerators to be stocked with shelf-stable classic comfort foods. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, General Mills Inc. and Campbell Soup Co. saw between a 10 and 20 percent uptick in sales of their products between February and early March. But that’s a small blip compared to the 37 percent hike in Spam sales, or the nearly 50 percent increase in popcorn and pretzel sales. No reports yet on what folks are washing all those salty snacks down with, though.
