A gun-loving, conspiracy-prone restaurant owner wins GOP primary in Colorado
This week, five-term U.S. Representative Scott Tipton lost the Republican primary election for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District to a political newcomer—Lauren Boebert, owner of Shooters Grill, a gun-themed restaurant in small-town Rifle. There, waitstaff serving menu items like Guac 9 and Ballistic Chicken wear their own loaded guns, holstered on their hips. “Both the food and the servers pack heat,” The Denver Post notes. More recently, Boebert’s food license was suspended after she reopened her restaurant during the coronavirus pandemic, defying a county order. Will she make it to Congress? “Unpredictable,” the Post declared.
