Shipping, wrecked: Spices, specialty corn stuck in transit

Covid-19-related shipping disruptions have wrought havoc upon foodmakers that pride themselves on single-origin ingredients, Medium’s Heated reports. A food truck operator had to close up shop after two consecutive shipments of spices shipped from Ghana failed to arrive. A tortilla company that focuses on heirloom corn from Mexico had to absorb the cost—and uncertainty—of shutdowns and stoppages on both sides of the border. Even when the food does make it to the U.S., shipping domestically has proven expensive and unreliable. The headline says it all: All your favorite foods are stuck in transit.
