Covid-19 stripped the catering industry of its clientele
The holiday season usually brings lots of business to the catering industry, feeding seasonal office parties and winter weddings. But Covid-19 kicked large social gatherings to the curb, stripping many caterers of their clientele. As a result, many businesses have had to adapt their models to provide meals for virtual dinner parties, drive-in movies, and doctor’s offices. According to the National Association for Catering and Events, 3,300 members were surveyed early on in the pandemic and found over 75 percent had experienced financial hardship, The Washington Post reports. Though some clients are optimistically hoping the roll-out of vaccinations can allow them to schedule events for this fall, nothing can be locked in just yet.
