Trump’s Covid-19 task force includes Thomas Keller, heads of our biggest food companies
President Trump is holding phone calls with corporate executives to figure out how to reopen the American economy. The agriculture group includes executives from the Farm Bureau, America’s largest agriculture lobby; Tyson and Perdue, among America’s biggest meat companies; Cargill and ADM, our biggest grain companies; and Grimmway Farms, creator of the baby carrot. (Strangely absent? John Deere.) Meanwhile, the food and beverage industries were represented by CEOs from McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and the parent companies of Taco Bell and Olive Garden; fine-dining chefs Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten; and Ray Washburne, a former administration official who runs a Tex-Mex chain called M Crowd. The complete lists were released by the White House on Tuesday.
