First employee at meat plant tests positive for Covid-19

The first employee at a meat plant has tested positive for Covid-19, Reuters reports. Large-scale chicken producer Sanderson Farms announced the infected employee worked at its McComb, Mississippi, processing plant; the person’s work area was relatively limited. The company sent the infected employee, along with six others, home with pay to quarantine themselves. Sanderson also said they’ve thoroughly cleaned the affected work area and facilities. Other meat companies like Tyson have been taking precautionary measures, such as checking the temperatures of slaughterhouse workers.
