You’re not the only one to get grossed out by the SpaghettiO pie video

Maybe it’s pandemic boredom, maybe it’s a desire for notoriety and clout. Whatever the reason, the latest trend to spill over from TikTok to Facebook is a series of cooking and recipe “hack” videos. These vids range from shrimp dishes calling for enough dairy ingredients to clog arteries, to a wildly popular tutorial on how to concoct a SpaghettiO pie. If the ingredients in the latter (mozzarella cheese, garlic bread, milk—in addition to a can of SpaghettiOs with meatballs) don’t weird you out, there’s the moment the host uses her forearms as rolling pins. According to Vice, the video “is the top result on Facebook for ‘dinner hack,’ and based on the other videos on the page that published it, is part of a wider push of cringe content as a traffic strategy.” There’s no rhyme or reason as to why the trend is tracking—but if you do find a recipe hack that folds in a sea shanty or two, be sure to let us know.
