Coronavirus outbreak strands chicken feet at the port

An estimated 300 to 400 refrigerated shipping containers full of chicken parts—most of them feet—have been rerouted as a result of the coronavirus, Reuters reports. The shipments were destined for China, but ports there have run out of space in the mayhem. Meanwhile, domestic imports are facing additional scrutiny, too. The Food and Drug Administration announced on Friday its plans to monitor the medical product supply chain. Though it plans to continue inspecting imports according to routine, the agency wants “to reassure the public that at this time there is no evidence that food or food packaging have been associated with transmission and no reason to be concerned.”
