Restaurants having hard time accessing their GoFundMe dollars

In the wake of widespread shutdown orders, many restaurants set up fundraising campaigns on the popular crowdfunding site, GoFundMe. Some were met with overwhelming generosity, but there was a downside: Eater reports that restaurateurs are struggling to access the money they’ve raised, due to what they describe as a byzantine set of fundraising guidelines and unresponsive support staff. Adding to the stress is a looming deadline: Per GoFundMe’s rules, funds that aren’t withdrawn within a month of a campaign launch get refunded to donors. For many restaurants, that deadline may be right around the corner.
