From restaurant menus to vending machines, the cost of food keeps going up
The cost of dining out increased last month by 0.7 percent. That may not sound like a lot, but it’s a dizzying pace not seen since the early 1980s, reports Axios. Many factors are contributing to the rising prices, including a labor shortage that’s forcing restaurants to pay workers more and rising food costs, especially meat, vegetables, and fresh fruit. It’s not just restaurants raising prices: Last month, vending machines had the biggest single-month cost spike on record. No matter where you’re eating these days, it’s probably costing you more.
