An expedited airport security program has partnered with OpenTable to create digital vaccine cards for indoor diners
The expedited airport security program Clear is entering the restaurant industry, Fortune reports. Well, kind of. As the Delta variant surges across the United States and major cities move to mandate proof of vaccination against Covid-19 for indoor dining, the restaurant reservation service OpenTable is partnering with Clear to implement a digital vaccine card for diners. Here’s how it works: On the OpenTable app, diners can click on the “Clear” banner on the reservation confirmation page, which leads to an information page with instructions on how to create a digital vaccine card with Clear. According to Fortune, the app securely connects verified identities to proof of vaccination from hundreds of vaccine providers, and OpenTable will not save vaccination card data or other personal health information. Use of the service is free and, so far, more than 300 restaurants have instituted this safety feature.
