Domino’s to reintroduce its 1980s villain to advertise pizzas delivered by autonomous vehicle
Back in the 1980s, Domino’s Pizza had a mascot: the Noid. Brainchild of advertising executives, the Noid was a bad guy who tried to block Domino’s drivers from delivering pizza on time. He had a pretty good run, even appearing in a Michael Jackson video. But the company retired the claymation figure in the early 1990s after a real-life hostage incident, The Washington Post reports. Like all good cartoon villains, though, he can’t be vanquished that easily. He’s poised to make a comeback. Now that Domino’s is piloting self-driving cars, the brand will reintroduce the Noid to thwart their efforts to deliver pizzas.
