Deep-sea fishermen are tossing valuable tuna overboard
Deep-sea fishermen who were on the water while Covid-19 spread across the world returned home to find a changed world. Restaurants were closed, customers were canceling, and social distancing had kicked into high gear. In San Diego, a fisherman docked his boat with 30,000 pounds of tuna and opah, the Associated Press reports. By the time he talked to the reporter, he was selling it to the public at $10 a pound, a third of market price. Others reported throwing tens of thousands of dollars worth of fish overboard.
