Shuttered New Orleans restaurant first in nation to sue insurance company

A New Orleans restaurant is being credited as the first to sue its insurance carrier over profits lost to mandatory coronavirus closures. Oceana Grill, based in the French Quarter, filed a suit against Lloyd’s of London, arguing that Covid-19 caused them property damage. Oceana Grill’s lawyer told TV station 4WWL: “Our hope is that we can confirm the obligations of the insurance companies and this could affect businesses not just in Louisiana, this can affect businesses across America.”
