New York City’s abrupt curfew order leads to confusion among food delivery workers
Food workers were left in the dark after NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a curfew on Monday, in response to ongoing protests against police brutality. People who work in the industry—from deliverers to street vendors, many of whom are people of color and undocumented—grappled with confusion about the order, whether it applied to them, and what risks they could face if stopped by the police. To add insult to injury, the curfew also restricted transportation options for essential workers: Scooter- and bike-sharing services were all shut down after dark. Eater has the story.
