A Miami couple is charged with stealing $2.5 million in a crab and lobster scam

A Miami couple was arrested last Friday and charged with stealing $2.5 million from commercial fishermen, reports Keys Weekly. The crimes allegedly occurred at a Florida Keys fish house, where the pair both held managerial positions. A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigation claims that one suspect put thousands of commercial stone crab and lobster tags into their own name, instead of those of the rightful parties. The second suspect is accused of selling lobsters to exporters without the consent of the fish house. Warrants are actively being obtained for the newly infamous duo (but this certainly isn’t the first crabby crime we’ve seen). —Alex Hinton
