Not just groceries: Instacart partners with Walgreens to deliver same-day medication
This week, Instacart announced its latest business venture. The grocery pickup and delivery service is joining forces with Walgreens for same-day delivery including over-the-counter medications, beauty supplies, and more. Beginning in Illinois, the partnership will expand to about 8,000 Walgreens locations, said CNN Business. As the demand for online shopping continues to increase, both companies are seeking new ways to reach potential patrons. Instacart will use its independent contractors to shop and deliver orders. But this move will help Instacart compete with Amazon and other delivery providers. Walgreens already provides curbside pickup and offers delivery through Postmates and DoorDash, but this new collaboration could shore up sales that don’t happen in the drugstore anymore.
