Health experts encourage using reusable products in the restaurant space

Before the pandemic, cities and states started to make progress on banning plastic bags and single-use paper products. Now, health concerns have reversed any progress with many retailers banning customers from bringing reusable bags at all, CNBC reports. In the restaurant industry, the increased reliance on food delivery services is simultaneously tied to an uptick of plastic involved in takeout orders. However, evidence indicates the virus is spread from inhaling aerosolized droplets, rather than through surfaces. Health experts from across the world have made a statement addressing the safety of reusables during Covid-19. The statement points out that disposable products present similar issues as reusable ones and lays out best practices for retailers when using reusable products, including employing contact-free systems and complying with food safety and health codes with additional sanitizing procedures.
