Art Cullen says Iowa agriculture can be a leader on climate change and immigration

In 2017, Art Cullen won a Pulitzer Prize for a series of columns challenging “powerful corporate agricultural interests in Iowa,” written for The Storm Lake Times. (You may have also seen his writing in The Counter.) In an interview with The Daily Yonder, an outlet covering rural America, Cullen says that reporting from a meatpacking town where at least 30 languages are spoken has shifted his thoughts on what issues deserve the most attention today: “My perspective used to be: Iowa must feed the world. My perspective now is: Iowa can lead the world in the battle against climate change, and welcome a new generation of immigrants.”
