This 105-year-old recovered from Covid-19. She credits gin-soaked raisins, a good diet, and prayer.

It was Lucia DeClerk’s 105th birthday when she tested positive for Covid-19. Two weeks later, she was back in her room doing just fine, The New York Times reported. The centenarian credited three habits with her speedy recovery: prayer, abstaining from junk food, and nine gin-soaked raisins every morning. According to “The People’s Pharmacy” radio show and books, the raisins are a pretty common home remedy for arthritis pain. To make them, cover the raisins with a juniper-y gin, let it evaporate for a week to 10 days—DeClerk swears by nine—and then start each day by eating nine. We can’t attest to it, but it supposedly takes two months for the effects to be noticeable. And, no, the raisins won’t get you drunk.
