SPAM manufacturer will phase out growth drug ractopamine to woo Chinese market

Pork manufacturer Hormel Foods announced on Tuesday that it would eliminate pigs treated with the growth drug ractopamine from its supply chain, following in the footsteps of other big processors including Tyson and JBS. In doing so, the companies are angling to sell a lot more pork to China—where African Swine Fever has decimated the hog supply, but where ractopamine use is not permitted. Reuters has the details.
