In Florida, college students now have a secret code to tell bartenders if they feel unsafe

College students in southeastern Florida who encounter an unsafe date may be able to ask the bartender for help, CNN reports. Posters in restrooms indicate that if a customer orders an “Owl Shot,” the bartender will know that they feel unsafe. If a customer says they want it ‘neat,’ the bar staff will escort them to their car. If ‘on the rocks’ is requested, the bar staff will call them a ride, and if they ask for the shot ‘with lime’ the bar will call the police. The idea was developed by Florida Atlantic University’s Student Government to protect students.
