Social drinking and alcohol sales increase as stay-at-home orders persist
Unable to frequent bars and restaurants, many social drinkers are now having their happy hours at home. Across the United States, alcohol sales at liquor and grocery stores have risen almost 26 percent from March 7 to April 11, compared to the same time last year. Online alcohol sales have also risen sharply. The World Health Organization has urged governments across the globe to warn citizens of their increased risk of alcoholism.
