McDonald’s and other brands create social distancing logos
As the novel coronavirus continues to spread, brands are getting into the social distancing game too. McDonald’s and Coca-Cola are among the giant corporations that have opted for logo redesigns meant to evoke social distancing, CNN Business reports. In Brazil, McD’s iconic golden yellow arches were pulled apart in a Facebook post. However, the ad provoked criticism about the company’s sick leave employee policy. (Spoiler: It isn’t great.) Similarly, Coca-Cola’s ad in Times Square spaced out each letter of the logo with the slogan “Staying apart is the best way to stay connected.” These advertising approaches may help educate but also can diminish the severity of the global crisis, according to design experts.
