Lawsuit seeking to hold Tyson Foods responsible for employee Covid-19 cases dismissed

A federal judge sided with Tyson in dismissing a lawsuit brought by Texas workers who alleged the meat producer was negligent in its response to Covid-19, Bloomberg Law reports. The judge ruled that workers failed to prove working conditions at Tyson were the reason they contracted the virus. Employees couldn’t pinpoint the exact dates they were infected, nor could they rule out the possibility that they had contracted Covid-19 elsewhere. Furthermore, according to a state law signed by Governor Greg Abbott in June, they also would have had to prove Tyson knowingly failed to warn them of dangerous conditions at the facility. A Tyson spokesperson said the company is pleased with the outcome.
