Hooters shortens its “classic” shorts. Some servers aren’t happy.

A change in seasons isn’t the only reason some Hooters employees are catching a draft. TikTok videos recently posted by “Hooters Girls” reacting to a change in the restaurant’s uniform policy have rekindled criticisms that the chain, famous for its iconic white tank top and orange short-shorts, inappropriately sexualizes its servers’ bodies. In videos viewed by millions, female employees display the new shorts they received from the company, comparing the updated length—similar to a high-waisted bikini brief—to the original branded short-shorts. One server described the new style as more “like underwear,” NBC News reports, and an employee who spoke to reporters on the condition of anonymity said that while the new uniform change was well-received by some servers, others weren’t happy.
