Tyson Foods begins penalizing sick workers for missing shifts
Tyson Foods, the largest U.S. meat processor, will penalize workers for missing shifts due to illness, The Baltimore Sun reports. Tyson spokesperson Gary Mickelson said that employees who have tested positive for the virus will not be affected and will continue to receive short-term disability pay. However, the company will shift back to its usual policy of docking points from employees who miss shifts. As more meat processing plants reopen and take measures to mitigate the spread of the virus, experts and unions warn that workers are still being put in harm’s way.
