As the country recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospitality industry—one of the most weathered industries in 2020—is now on a desperate hiring spree, and nowhere is this better reflected than the higher wages that restaurants are willing to pay workers. Chipotle is offering employees $15 per hour, Applebee’s is offering job applicants free appetizers, and restaurants across the country are even implementing bonuses and tuition reimbursement programs to lure workers. The incentives might be paying off: The economy added 850,000 new jobs last month, The Washington Post reports.
