Former USDA employee sentenced after taking bribes in exchange for helping contractor
A former U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) employee admitted to accepting bribes including PGA tour tickets, Corvette wheels, and visits to strip clubs in exchange for helping a contractor obtain $19 million in agency contracts between 2013 and 2015, The Washington Post reports. The contractor in question, Communications Resources, Inc. (CRI), was hired to test alarm systems and provide maintenance. It has a long history with the agency: USDA named CRI Small Business of the Year in 2009. The former agency employee will serve 180 days of home detention.
