New York bars find clever ways around food requirement for dine-in drinks

When New York bars reopened, there was a small caveat: Customers had to be sitting down and eating food, The Takeout reports. Bar owners around the state have found ways to get around Governor Cuomo’s vague-yet-specific demands. Low-price menu items including $1 “handful o’ croutons” and pretzel bites dubbed “Cuomo chips” are just a couple of creative options bar owners have come up with. The governor’s reasoning is that if patrons are only drinking, they’ll walk around to mingle and spread the coronavirus. For now, bars will continue to offer low-price snacks if it’ll get customers to stay and have a drink.
