Broken McFlurry machines? There’s an app for that.
Last summer, Rashiq Zahid, a 24-year-old software engineer, tried to order a McSundae at a Berlin McDonald’s—only to discover that his trip to the restaurant had been for naught. The ice cream machine was broken. “I was like, ‘there must be something that can be done about this,’” Zahid recalled to The Verge. Ask to speak to the manager? Never. Instead, he built a bot that automatically tries to order ice cream at every McDonald’s in Germany—so he’d never have to waste his precious time again. Last week, the app launched in the United States. As of this writing, 12.14 percent of ice cream machines are broken here.
