Eliván Martínez Mercado

Eliván Martínez Mercado is a reporter for the Centro de Periodismo Investigativo in Puerto Rico. After studying foreign languages ​​at the University of Puerto Rico, he began his journalistic career in 2001 in El Nuevo Herald in Miami and then in El Nuevo Día. He studied at the UAM / El País Journalism School in Madrid in 2006. Now it is dedicated to develop communications strategies for cultural, environmental, sports and non-profit initiatives. He won in 2012 a grant from The Fund for Investigative Journalism, which led him to discover 'Santini's Secret Tax', a series that has earned him awards from the Overseas Press Club and the Association of Journalists of Puerto Rico. His chronicles 'The Treasure of a Rebel Scientist' and 'The People Who Dreamed Back to Music' also earned him national awards.
