The opening lyrics to Eminem’s 2002 hit “Lose Yourself”—“His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy/There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti”—may not rouse an appetite. But they have inspired a restaurant. Tomorrow, Eminem aka Marshall Mathers aka Slim Shady is opening Mom’s Spaghetti within downtown Detroit’s massive Union Assembly restaurant. Technically, it will be a walk-up window, small diner, and an upstairs store called “The Trailer” full of Eminem memorabilia. This is just the latest iteration of the venture, Eater Detroit reports. Eminem and his manager, Paul Rosenberg, first launched Mom’s Spaghetti as a series of pop-ups in conjunction with the release of Eminem’s “Revival” album. Last year, Eminem’s Shady Records label also organized to serve the spaghetti to frontline workers in Detroit. So what’s on the menu? Spaghetti, meatballs, spaghetti with meatballs, and the “s’ghetti sandwich,” of course.
