Food Timeline is one of the internet’s most comprehensive and beloved histories of what we eat and why—but for the past five years, its future has been uncertain. In 2015, the website’s creator and sole custodian Lynne Olver died, and since then the resource hasn’t been updated. Now, some good news: Surviving family members recently announced that they will donate the site domain and Olver’s reference books to Virginia Tech, which will take over maintenance of the resource. The institution was selected over numerous other interested organizations because of its commitment to keeping the archives ad-free and accessible to the public.
