Tyson Foods Inc., the largest U.S. chicken processor, is cooperating with the Department of Justic in a price-fixing investigation, under an antitrust leniency program that allows the company to avoid prosecution. The Justice Department alleged high-level chicken-company employees exchanged details of their pricing with competitors for years while negotiating supply deals with restaurants, The Wall Street Journal reports. Under the leniency program, the DOJ promises confidentiality to those who self-report in addition to some financial benefits, causing companies to race each other to be first. Tyson: Welcome to the witness protection program. Enjoy your new life in Montana.
