Trump removes protections from lone Atlantic marine sanctuary in favor of fishing

There hasn’t been much else going on, so you surely read about President Trump’s decision to remove protections from the only marine sanctuary in the Atlantic Ocean. The Washington Post reports that Trump’s decision was made to placate New England fishers who claim the protected waters have hurt their livelihood. That said, recent analysis of marine sanctuaries in the Pacific Ocean indicates they may actually help the fishing industry in the long-term.
