Starbucks is asking landlords for a year’s worth of rent forgiveness after the company’s earnings drastically fell, Eater reports. Meanwhile, independent restaurant owners across the country are continuing to make rent payments despite government-mandated shutdowns. In the email sent to landlords, Starbucks claimed the rent ease would “support modified operations and adjustments so they could withstand the uncertainty together.” The request has reportedly not been well-received.
