Retailers are moving quickly to lift mask requirements for vaccinated people. By Monday, Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe’s, and Starbucks had all changed their policies.

After last week’s abrupt shift in CDC guidance, retailers and restaurants are moving quickly to make masks optional for fully vaccinated shoppers. Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe’s, Starbucks and Chipotle have all updated their policies, CNBC reports. The success of the policy change hinges on the honor system: Employees will likely have no way of knowing whether unmasked shoppers are vaccinated or not. Mother Jones spoke to three workers at Trader Joe’s. They’re not pleased.
