Survey reveals racial pay disparity at Starbucks

Black baristas at airport Starbucks locations make an average of $1.85 less per hour than white baristas, The Boston Globe reports, citing numbers from a survey of more than 2,000 employees in a hospitality workers’ union. The 142 airport Starbucks locations, which are operated by HMSHost, also did not participate in the racial bias training that closed 8,000 Starbucks locations across the country in May 2018. Sounds like it’s time for HQ to schedule a sit-down with its licensee. Maybe over coffee?
