British book publisher Bloomsbury has pulled Michelin star-winning chef Elizabeth Haigh’s debut cookbook from shelves, after the author was accused of plagiarizing many of its recipes and anecdotes. According to fellow author Sharon Wee, Haigh’s Makan shared numerous, striking similarities with her 2012 cookbook and memoir, Growing Up in a Nonya Kitchen. Across social media, users pointed out multiple passages in the two books—both of which explore Singaporean cuisine—that were nearly identical. Now, some readers are calling for the reissue of Wee’s book, in hopes of supporting the author’s work over Haigh’s, The Independent reports. Perhaps a little taste of poetic justice?
