Nestlé considers 60 percent of its products “unhealthy,” according to internal memo

As the world’s fickle consumer class continues trending toward healthier (or healthier seeming) products, some of the world’s largest junk food peddlers are pivoting hard. Case in point: The multinational food corporation Nestlé, which recently put out an internal memo decrying 60 percent of its products as unhealthy. Bloomberg reports that the memo concluded some Nestlé products “will never be healthy no matter how much they’re tweaked,” leading some to speculate that we’ll see product phase-outs in coming months. As one analyst bluntly noted: “We have long argued that mainstream confectionery is not a particularly attractive category, given structural pressures.” Pivot to kelp?
