Navajo Nation orders a 3-week stay-at-home shutdown

On Monday, the Navajo Nation ordered a three-week stay-at-home lockdown for the entire reservation, allowing only essential businesses to remain open. Tribal officials said the 27,000-square mile reservation had 900 new cases in the last week, bringing total cases to 13,249 with 598 deaths, AP reports. Residents are urged to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and limit gatherings to less than five people. All schools on the reservation will operate online and essential businesses may remain open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Covid-19 has swept through Navajo nation at an uncontrollable rate which left the reservation closed between March and August.
