Last April—after years of complaints alleging a culture of sexual misconduct at its restaurants—McDonald’s announced that it would implement a suite of programs aimed at protecting employees from violence and harassment beginning in January 2022. Well, January has come and gone, and workers are still waiting on those commitments to come to fruition, The Nation reports. Last spring, the fast-food giant promised that all stores would be required to offer sexual harassment training and establish reporting processes and employee surveys to monitor adherence to new safety standards. But multiple workers said that they have yet to receive any form of sexual harassment training so far. In fact, some feel that the issue has been all but completely swept under the rug after the company’s initial promises. As one worker in Raleigh, North Carolina, put it: “It’s like a conversation that’s hush-hush.” —Jessica Fu
