McDonald’s CEO calls for new Covid-19 stimulus package. That’s rich.

McDonald’s is not known for its progressive politics—the chain hasn’t even required its franchises to offer sick pay during the pandemic. But it’s not exactly surprising that CEO Chris Kempczinski is calling for a fresh stimulus package, per CNBC. Why? Maybe it’s because McDonald’s 13,000 franchises are eligible for PPP loans. Kempczinski also told the network he’d be “open to discussing” raising the federal minimum wage, which is currently set at $7.25 an hour. Funny, we thought McDonald’s had already announced it would stop fighting the $15 minimum last year.
