Grocery stores nationwide are setting up plans to be leading providers of Covid-19 vaccinations. Supermarket chains intend to train their staff, secure proper medical equipment to administer shots, and provide online scheduling services for appointments. Kroger, Albertsons, and CVS are among the several retailers confirmed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide vaccines once they are approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Although the national vaccine distribution details are still in the works, some grocers have secured medical-grade freezers to store vaccines, The Wall Street Journal reports. The chain Food City has also secured devices to monitor freezer temperatures and containers to store used syringes. The company says doses of the vaccine will be delivered directly from the CDC, free of charge for customers.
