They’re putting frogs on cakes, for some reason

Chubby, cartoonish frogs on top of colorful cakes are taking the internet by storm. With more than 6 million views, the hashtag #frogcake has gone viral on Instagram and TikTok. The surge in popularity appears to be influenced by Chicago-based baker Claire Ma of Oracle Bakery. Ma began baking last summer to fill her free time during the pandemic. Her heavily piped animal creations display frogs, say, playing checkers or holding a flower in a field of frosted mushrooms, according to Vice. And Ma’s creations have inspired artists outside of the food world too, spawning frog soap bars, digital art, and memes.
