D.C. man randomly receives Covid vaccine during supermarket trip

While many Americans are still struggling to figure out where their place in line is for the Covid-19 vaccine, one Washington D.C. man got his simply by being at a supermarket at the right time. D.C.’s health department distribution guidelines state that once unfrozen, the Moderna vaccine cannot be wasted—meaning just about anyone can receive one if first responders or those ahead in line don’t show up for their appointments. This was the case for law student David MacMillan when a Giant grocery store pharmacist waved him and his companion down last week, according to Washingtonian. Though each state has its own distribution protocols, chance encounters like this may encourage vaccine-seekers to do some creative loitering, much like would-be airline passengers of days past.
