Washington’s Yakima County has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases, and the virus seems to be circulating among seasonal farmworkers working in the state’s apple and cherry orchards, The Wall Street Journal reports. County health officials believe the virus began spreading in large fruit warehouses and is now being transmitted in employer-provided housing compounds. Worker advocates say farmers are not complying with state regulations requiring that they provide masks and ensure social distancing in the fields.
