Still on the frontlines, grocery workers await vaccines

Most of America’s 3 million grocery workers are still waiting for vaccines, and many don’t know when they’ll get them, The Washington Post reports. One might think after a year on the front lines—including a lockdown spring, in which they didn’t get to shelter in place, and faced hordes of panic shoppers—they might be rewarded with inoculation. But only 13 states have begun inoculating grocery workers, and 11 more don’t have a clear plan to prioritize them, labor advocates say. “Our pharmacists were vaccinated, but the rest of us are still waiting,” says one Indiana clerk. That’s a tough pill to swallow.
